This week I went around working on a bit of a study, asking students and teachers the same questions and seeing if the answers were different for the student vs the teacher. I did 1 topic school related and 1 topic non school related. I will start with the non-school related topic:
Thoughts On Climate Change.
Max, a sixth grader in Acadia, thinks that it's factories, especially the beef industry that is causing Climate Change. He says he also knows that there is a big ice cube that is holding a lot of Carbon Dioxide, and if that ice cube melts we could have a problem coming our way. Max told me that he also thinks that it is a problem that some politicians are denying the existence of global warming.
Mr. Hilton, Social Studies Acadia 6, thinks that it is complicated and that it has been mainly caused by humans. He also thinks that is caused by business more than the rest of the world, but we should all still do our best to help. We should start putting in and enforcing stricter rules against things that cause Climate change. He also shared he thinks that if we don’t do something it could threaten the future of our planet.
Now onto the school related topic:
What do you think makes a good teacher?
“What makes a good teacher is someone who is dedicated to what they teach, they are someone who cares about kids and their future, and someone who really wants to motivate students to do their best and learn how to be their best self.” - Mr. Rog, Computer Science
Blake, Acadia 6, says he thinks a good teacher is someone who is experienced in what they teach, and a teacher that gives the students food.
