Two thousand. That was two thousand people who went to the Portland climate strike. And every single one of them went because they thought that they could make a difference, and they did. You might be thinking, why do we need a climate strike? It doesn’t look like the world is changing. Well, I hate to burst your bubble, but it is. Drastically. So, when will we be experiencing the effects? Truth is, we already are. In fact, by 2030, the globe could reach an increased temperature of an added 1.5 degrees.
After we burn oil, coal, and natural gas, a whole lotta carbon dioxide is going into our atmosphere. As in 21.3 billion tons of carbon dioxide going into our atmosphere, causing rising sea levels, increased ocean temperatures, increased ocean acidity, wilder weather, global warming, melting permafrost, melting glaciers, and much more. While it is easier to let ‘officials’ do this, if the people don't say something, our ‘officials’ just assume that there is no problem.
Let's think about Greta Thunberg. At the bottom of this article, you will see the link to her speech, ‘How Dare You’. In the video, she says how terrible it is that our officials have to resort to children to raise awareness for the ongoing problem that is occurring. There is actual proof that these things are happening, despite what some of our officials say. This article was just here to inform you, and tell you how our world is changing, probably for the worst. Unless we do something.
