Students in the creative writing club were challenged to write a letter to their parent when they were 15 years old. Here is a letter that Sadie, Grade 6, wrote to her mother.
Dear 15-year-old Mom,
It is I, your daughter from the future. Don’t worry, you don’t have me until you’re a lot older. Like, much, MUCH older. Anyway, I can basically tell the future, but I’m not going to give you too many giveaways about how your life is going to turn out because you’re not really supposed to know and it could mess some things up. But the world is going through something right now that you wouldn’t believe. Again, I’m not going to tell you because you’ll take all the credit and say you can read the future or whatever. Anyway, how are you? Enjoying the mansion of a home you live in at the moment? How is your private boat and giant yard? Hm. Well don’t get used to it. In a few years you’ll be living the city life! Are you dating anyone at the moment? Are you still going out with Phillip? Or have you moved on to Jason yet? Ooh is Paulette Pachiko still as nasty as ever? Don’t mind her. Her and her little squad will leave you alone soon enough. Well, it was nice being able to write to you. Have fun at college and in New York. Oops- I’ve said too much. See you in 21 years! Love,
Sadie
