How to Survive: Sleep Paralysis

by Gavin, Grade 8

For those of you that don't know, sleep paralysis is a state either during waking up or falling asleep where you are paralyzed and hallucinate often scary things like demons and monsters at the edge of your bed or right in your face. And as a survivor of sleep paralysis myself, I know what I am doing.

Often times when you are in the paralysis state you think scary thoughts, so step 1 would be to clear your mind or think of happy things.

Step 2 would be to close your eyes, if you close your eyes you will be incapable of seeing any of the scary things and keep in mind that none of the scary things you see are real and they cant hurt you.

Step 3 is to try and fall asleep. If you do this you will quickly fall into the sleeping state and the sleep paralysis will go away.

That concludes this edition of how to survive!
