Fortnite’s Confusing Timeline Summarized In About 20 Paragraphs
By : Colin
It all started with the biggest company in the world : VINDERTECH creating a simulation system that failed and ruined the world. It failed and spread a violent storm throughout the island and throughout the world, basically creating the zombie apocalypse.
Starting at the first real season : Season 2. It came out of nowhere, and came straight up in popularity. In it, they made a major change to the map with 10 new locations to explore and discover. They also added the battle pass, also speculated to be made by Vindertech to raise money quickly.
The next season, YOU GUESSED IT, SEASON 3. It again had a battle pass, but this was the first season that developed a plot. At the end of the season you could spot a blue meteor held above the map.
At the beginning of Season 4 when you logged in you got a cutscene that showed the meteor hitting the map. It hit one of the least popular locations DUSTY DEPOT but also taking down with it one of the most popular, and the community called it Factories. The government had set up a facility to monitor the new location caused by the meteor. RISKY REELS, the new drive in theater, also got a small meteor crash, along with the run-down prison taking a beating. After week 9 of challenges in Season 4, a countdown began to broadcast on the TV’s and the villain base. It seemed like a warning to the island. At the villian base there was also a rocket. On June 30, 2018, the rocket event happened and a huge rift in the sky appeared when the rocket hit the sky after other rifts guided it away from tilted towers.
Season 5 didn’t start with much but two new locations and rifts (Important later) but it sure ended well, with one of the community’s favorite cube, Kevin. He traveled all across the map and visited almost all named locations leaving behind runes. Then at the end of the season it fell in to Loot Lake and made it bouncy.
Season 6 started with a floating island hovering above the island and oh zombies. With Kevin inside it. Traveling back to each of the runes and harnessing its power, to at the end of the season explode putting the community into a different dimension and touch a rift butterfly (yeah, remember those)
👏👏 SEASON REVIEW. Season 7 started with a corner of the map with snow and ice. Also covering in ice one of the community’s favorite locations GREASY GROVE. It also came with a giant ice mountain named POLAR PEAK (Important later) and later in the season above that mountain came a floating orb and slowly became more transparent to reveal a person, actually, the Ice King. He emerged covering the whole map in snow bringing with it zombies. Later below the castle showed a prison with dragon eggs and a person. The person ended up being the prisoner (Who would have thought)
The next season the prisoner harnessed his powers of fire to make a volcano and then took the eggs back to his volcanic throne room to eventually hatch. Season 8 then erupted (See what I did there) in sadness as the popular locations, Tilted Towers, and Retail Row.
Season 9 right off the bat replaced those with high tech alternatives. MEGA MALL to replace Retail Row And NEO TILTED to replace Tilted Towers. Then as that season went on a robot became to be constructed and then the polar peak monster and the robot fought and the robot won leaving the monsters bones lying on the map whilst during the fight the robot ripped the Power orb out of the vault (Important later). That's the end of another season boyss.
Okkkkkk the final season I am going to talk about is season 10. The rumors are true. Dusty depot came back and the meteor was frozen in the air above dusty and the orb was mid break as the dimensions collided to make fortnite season 10 and Nicks article down below go check it out.
Tips and Tricks
By Finnegan
In this section, I’ll give you tips to get used to the map and gameplay changes.
Fish, Fish, and Fish Some More
Though this seems a bit obvious, fishing is the new strategy. Here’s the strategy to fishing:
Use the boats to find a safe spot on the map to fish your heart away.
Use the fish you caught to heal yourself in a pinch. Although they aren’t as good as shields, Bandages, and Medkits, they can heal you quickly in an intense build fight.
Finally, look out for the circle of splashes. This is where you can find the best loot and the best fish, like the Slurpfish.
Power Ziplines
Who’s ready to ride on a zip- oh, wrong game. Anyway, the ziplines starting at Retail Row can bring you to the top right corner of the map really quickly. This can be useful for rotations or if you need to get away from a fight.
Slurp Juice, Oh Yeah!
At Slurpy Swamps, almost everything gives you shields. Barrels, trucks, and even swamps can heal your shield. This place will be a quick hot spot in competitive play.
Upgrades
At certain locations on the map, there are weapon upgrade stations that can upgrade your weapon by 1 rarity, at the cost of some materials. Let’s say you have a Common AR and you just need that slight upgrade to an Uncommon AR, you just insert 50 of each material and boom, you have an upgraded weapon. This would only be meta in beginning game where you only have Common or Uncommon loot.
These are only some tips in the new chapter. It would take me forever to list all of the tips. Anyway, enjoy the new season and chapter!
The Black Hole That Sucked Everyone’s Excitement
By : Nick
At the end of The End event in season 10 (See Colin’s timeline) a black hole appeared. No one could log in if they left with the exit button. Youtube and Twitch and Discord were all very glitchy. While Twitch and Discord were just completely broken, the mobile app for Youtube was still online despite it crashing 2 other big services. People were watching Youtube streams and couldn't even connect to Twitch. After about 15 minutes, numbers started to appear. After the numbers were gone, the message was translated, the full sequence of numbers is as follows: 1 146 15 62 / 87 14 106 2 150 / 69 146 15 36 / 2 176 8 160 65. By picking out these numbers of words in the tape logs by the visitor (See Colin’s timeline) we got this message: “I was not alone. Others were outside the loop. This was not calculated. The Zero Point is now inevitable.”
Besides that hinted message though, we were dry, and even their Discord and Twitter went black. During this entire thing, Fortnite live streamed it on Twitter, Youtube, and Twitch. Though it turned out to be a publicity stunt, but it worked. Fortnite was most popular on Twitter and Youtube for 2 days! Potentially more popular than when they had a season going.
