The serpent’s secret is a fantasy book that I think is Egyptian mythology with a twist but the book never straight up tells you. The author is Sayantani Dasgupta and besides the Serpent’s Secret she has written Serpent’s Secret 2 and 3, Fire Girl, Demon Slayers and other Stories, and more. The main character is Kiranmala, her parents are very very odd, every Halloween(which is her birthday ) her parents dress her up as a moon princess (foreshadow) but 1 day Kiranmala comes home from school on her 12 birthday, and her parents aren’t there. Suddenly 2 odd boys come up to her house with real swords and red cloaks, they explain to her that her parents put a spell on her so monsters could not find him but the curse broke and her parents were cast into the land of demons then they fly off on flying horses and Kiranmala found the older brother was Neell and his younger half brother is Lal. Lal gets captured and Kiranmala and Neel go on a mission to rescue her parents Lal and Mati Lals girlfriend.the book is funny with twists, action, cool monsters and (of course) a small love story, it's an awesome book it is 4 and a half stars.
