Listen, you see that I type a lot of articles. As of writing this, I currently have a little more than 20 articles up. And this is my first year! But, throughout the successes and those that managed to get on the website, there is of course, scrapped ideas. This is actually my 30th article, so there’s a bunch of articles that have never seen the light of day. So this is what this is dedicated to. To the articles that wouldn’t get the chance otherwise.
Issues 10, 11, 12, and 13
Issue 10: My Nuzlocke of Pokemon: Let’s Go Pikachu
This article was made to capitalize on the short boost of popularity that Nuzlockes were experiencing after Jaiden Animations uploaded her video about it. So, I wanted to try one for myself, without ruining the save file of my other games, and since the Switch lets you have multiple accounts, I can have multiple save files. Also since I actually didn’t beat the game, it was even better. Unfortunately, the project didn’t pass the first gym. But, here’s what I have:
Recently, I watched Jaiden Animations’ newest video (As of writing this) on her Pokemon Ruby Nuzlocke, I decided to do my first Nuzlocke. But I didn’t want to delete my other save files, so I went for a game I didn’t have a lot of data on: Let’s Go Pikachu. So I made a new Switch account and started the Nuzlocke.
What is a Nuzlocke?
A Nuzlocke is basically a Pokemon hardcore mode. Here’s how it works:
If a Pokemon faints, they are dead and I can’t use them.
I must nickname every Pokemon I catch.
I’m only allowed to catch the first Pokemon of every Route.
If all of the Pokemon in my Box or Party is dead, it’s game over.
For this challenge, I made it easier by this rule:
If the first Pokemon of the Route is a duplicate, it doesn’t count as the first Pokemon until I get a Pokemon that is not a duplicate.
With that, let’s get into it.
The Beginning of the Nuzlocke
After mashing A just to get out of my own house, I finally see Professor Oak outside talking to the Pokemon. I thought “This is it. He finally lost his marbles.” But he turned around and looked okay. Then, he almost had a heart attack from the Pikachu that was right behind him. I then magically took out a Poke Ball and caught that Pikachu and named it Sero. And with that, the Nuzlocke had begun.
Issue 11: The Trash of Morgz
This article was actually completed, but wasn’t released. The reason? Well, I submitted it to Mr. Caywood and he said he wouldn’t post it because it was “Too negative.” So, let’s show that there is some interest in the article. If this article gets 5 hearts, I’ll resubmit it to Mr. Caywood and try again.
Issue 12: The History of Demise
For those who don’t know, Demise was one of the last events of Hermitcraft: Season 6. If you want to learn more on Hermitcraft, check out my article called “The Best Minecraft Series of 2019” This article did not unfortunately get past the planning page due to time restraints.
Issue 13: John Mulaney and the Sack Lunch Bunch Review
For those who don’t know, John Mulaney and the Sack Lunch Bunch is a Netflix special including my favorite comedian John Mulaney with the show being in the style of 80’s kids shows. Although the special is great, I didn’t even get past the planning stage again due to lack of motivation. But, even before that, there was an article that also got canceled under the name of “Issue 14” being “Jschlatt Youtooz Review” which was canceled due to me not having enough material to make a full review of a single figurine.
Issue 16: The Best of Google Stadia
This was also planned to be uploaded, but this time I decided to not submit it because it was too short. “How was it too short?” you may ask. Well, this is the entire article beside the title and image:
There is nothing good.
Issue 20 and 21
Issue 20: Everything in the Smash Bros. Direct
This, once again, didn’t go past the planning page due to me being fresh off of writing “Everything from the Pokemon Direct” Since I remembered how long that took and how unorganized it was, I needed a break from that format. I only ended up writing the introduction, so here it is:
Recently, a brand new Smash Bros. Direct came out and to everyone’s disappointment, Sakurai announced the 5th DLC character, being the 8th Fire Emblem character and the main character of the new game, Three Houses, Byleth got the final letter of invitation of Challenger Pack 1. I don’t know how to end this intro, let’s just get into it.
Issue 21: Shreksophone: The History
This is actually an inside joke for us Newspaper Club members, so I thought spreading the joke would be funny. But, mid-planning, I realised I didn’t have enough material and I thought it wouldn’t be funny, so I canceled it, with only this personal note for myself being wrote down:
Gavin introduced it to us.
But, I do occasionally consider doing it again. So, along with another attempt of the Morgz article, 5 hearts and I’ll try to finish and publish the article.
Issue 23: Apex Legends: Season 4 Review
Some would’ve called this a sequel to my popular “Apex Legends: Season 3 Review” but I just see it as another review. I was actually really excited to do this, since this would give me an excuse to actually play Apex again, since I keep telling myself to, but I barely do it. This article didn’t get past planning due to me being busy with other things and games.
Issue 26: My PAX East Experience
Me and my family were actually considering going to PAX East, but plans didn’t come through since we acted too late. So, I decided to do the second best thing, troll people. Me, Gavin, and Nicolas were actually planning on doing a series of PAX East articles with Gavin doing “How to Survive: Pax East” and Nicolas doing… something that will all build up to “My PAX East Experience” But, this is where we pounce. I say “Oh, if you want to see and hear more about PAX East, check out this video on my YouTube channel!” and then we put this link: http://bit.ly/2H9UmpA and I think we all know what link it is.
Issue 28 and 29
Issue 28: The Mario 35th Anniversary Rumors
At the time, this was breaking news, so I thought I could capitalize on it. For those who don’t know, the rumors were that Super Mario 64, Sunshine, and Galaxy would all be getting ports to the Nintendo Switch, as well as Super Mario 3D World, which would be getting the “Deluxe treatment” like New Super Mario Bros. U. But, these are basically facts at this point due to big sources like Eurogamer confirming these rumors and “Super Mario 3D World - Nintendo Switch” was just added to Best Buy’s inventory/system. This was cancelled due to fears that the topic has been already done to death.
Issue 29: What is Wikipedia Speedrunning?
This article was actually finished but not released (Like the Morgz one). The reason is because through some test readers, I realised I didn’t really do a good job teaching you, rather telling you stuff assuming you know what a speedrun is, and that’ll be confusing to a lot of people. That single thought is actually what inspired me to do this article. But despite that, here’s the article:
What is WIkipedia Speedrunning? After seeing some YouTubers do it, you are probably wondering how to do it too. So, here’s the barebones guide with all of the essential rules to a vanilla (Meaning basic) Wikipedia Speedrun.
Step 1: Topics
This is important because you’re setting a path for the speedrun. No speedrun is a speedrun without a finish line, and you can’t get to point B without starting at point A. For this article, the example speedrun will be to get from the Wikipedia page of the United States to Mochi, a Japanese rice cake.
Step 2: Friends and Timers
Now that you have multiple points A’s and B’s, now you need friends! So text your friends and get into a Discord, Zoom, Skype (If you’re one of those people), or another application that allows you to voice or video chat. You also need to time yourself, so for this you could just use the simple Google Chrome stopwatch or if you want to be fancy, a legitimate speedrun stopwatch.
Step 3: The Rules of the Race
Now that you have almost everything set up, let’s learn the actual rules!
No using the search bar.
No using the links on the side, like “What links here” or “Main page”
No Control F or Command F.
No using the “See also” section.
No using the “Notes” section.
No using the “References” section or anything below it.
No hitting the back arrow. If you do, you have to restart and take a punishment.
You could always add other rules to this like no using the first 5 links of the articles.
Step 4: RACE!
Now you race! For my example, let’s say I’m up against one of my friends and we’re doing United States to Mochi, and we start the stopwatch and we keep on racing and I get there at 1 minute 44.66 seconds and my friend does it in 2 minutes 66.87 seconds, that means I would have won that round and we pick 2 new topics and start over again.
So, now that you have this newfound knowledge, what are you going to do with it? Challenge your friends and assert your dominance as the Wikipedia King? Just let this article go to waste? Or maybe just challenge your friends and family for fun? The choice is up to you, and that’s the magic of Wikipedia speedrunning.
So, that was an adventure huh? Well, I’m glad you read through this entire thing and since you did, you deserve to click this link: http://bit.ly/2H9UmpA
